English: Norwegian-born Henry Peterson (1843-1911) and Lewis Peterson (1846-1934) arrived in Seattle 1876. Their business was called "The Seattle Photograph Gallery" (also, briefly, the "Seattle Art Gallery"), but they are typically credited as "Peterson & Brother" or "Peterson & Bro." They photographed mainly scenes in Seattle and elsewhere in Puget Sound; they also did portrait photography and made at least one photo expedition to Alaska. Their business was wiped out in the Great Seattle Fire of 1889, after which Henry retired from photography. Many of their photographs were later reprinted by Asahel Curtis, Thomas Peiser and others. Several of their photos appear in Thomas W. Prosch's collection in University of Washington Libraries Special Collections. Reference
